James was a son of Henry Schmidt, grandson of Karl Schmidt, great grandson of Dietrich Schmidt Jr., 2xgreat grandson of Dietrich Schmidt Sr., 3xgreat grandson of Friedrich Schmidt, 4xgreat grandson of Johannes Schmidt Jr., 5xgreat grandson of Johannes Schmidt Sr., 6xgreat grandson of Hans Heinrich Schmidt, and 7xgreat grandson of Hans Schmidt.
